The series consists of 2 test matches. The next test is going to be a Pink Ball test and will be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
From the first day itself India dominated the test matches with half centuries from Vihari, Pant and Ravidra Jadeja. Once Pant and Jadeja got going there was no stopping Indian batting line up. After a scintillating innings of Pant who just missed out on a hundred, getting out on 96, it was then Ashwin who joined the party and scored another test match half century on the second day. But it was all about Ravindra Jadeja on the second day, who scored a magnificent hundred and not only that he went on to score an unbeaten 175. He was also involved in three century partnerships. First with Pant then with Ashwin and lastly with Shami which remained unbeaten.
India put up a mammoth total of 574 in the first innings, which was too many for the fragile Sri Lankan batting line-up. The openers showed some promise but once the Indian Spinners got into their groove, Sri Lankan batting crumbled. Jadeja went on to take 5 wickets. Quite incredible feat for Jadeja who took a 5 wicket haul and scored a century in the same innings. It was all about Jadeja in this test match.
After being bundled out for 174 in the first innings Sri Lanka were forced to follow-on by India. And the story of the second innings was not much different from the first innings. Sri Lanka managed to score 178 in the second innings with only Dickwella scoring a half century who also remained not out just like Nissanka who also scored a half century in the first innings and remained not out.
Jadeja once again led the bowling attack with picking up 4 wickets, Ashwin also took 4 wickets and Shami took 2 in the second innings. Overall it was a forgettable test match for the Sri Lankan team. Who lost the test match under 3 days. They need to pull up their socks now for the next which is going to start on Saturday. On the other hand India will be looking to finish series with a win and few for WTC points.
