Another shocking news after the defeat against South Africa in the last test, Kohli has stepped down as Test Captain earlier today through a Twitter post.

Kohli has expressed his gratitude towards many people including his team mates and supporting staff. He has specially mentioned Ravi Shastri's name. Along with that he has specially thanked MS Dhoni for handing over the captaincy.

This came across as bit of a shock for many of the Indian cricket fans, as Kohli is India's most successful Test Captain so far. He has achieved so many things as Test Captain that so many former Indian Captains failed to achieve.

Earlier this year Kohli also stepped down as the T20I captain and RCB captain. Later he was removed from the ODI captaincy by the BCCI. So now he has completely given up his captaincy role. There have been so reports and rumors going around about his rift with Rohit Sharma and the management. So this decision has come as a shocker, at leat to me.

I don't know who is ready to lead the Indian Test Team at this point. Kohli took the Indian Test Team to new heights, India have been on top of the ICC table for several years now. Even though India lost the WTC final, the team has achieved so much. Indian have beaten Australia at their homw twice now. India is also leading the England Test series 2-1, one match will be played later this year. India had a great chance of creating history in South Africa but it was not to be. Another country where India didn't have a series win under Kohli is New Zealand. India lost the series 0-2.

Overall I think this came as a shocker for me and, it's really hard to grasp what just happened. It will be very interesting to see who will take the captaincy role now.
