Who Will Be India's Next Text Captain?

After Virat Kohli's resignation as Indian Test Captain, the big question that remains now is, who will take over this difficult role now. Rohit Sharma is already captaining the ODI and T20I teams. But will he be the next Test captain that is to be seen. I say this because because Rohit Sharma is not as consistent in Test cricket as he is in the limited overs format of the game. Even though he has shown some really good form of late, specially in England. But there are few other names that can take the Test captaincy role for India.

Here are some probable contenders :

    1. Rohit Sharma

The first obvious choice for the role is Rohit Sharma, because he is already leading the Indian Cricket team in the limited overs format. He has been a really successful captain in the IPL, in fact he is the most successful IPL captain thus far. He is also shown some consistency in tests in the last year or so. And again as MS Dhoni said when he left his limited overs captaincy, that It's very difficult in India to have different captains for different format. That seems truer than ever now. So I think Rohit Sharma will be the first choice for this role.

    2. KL Rahul

The second contender for this role is KL Rahul, simply because he already captained India in the second test against South Africa in the recently concluded test series. And also he is the captain of Team India in the coming ODI series against South Africa. He has also captained Punjab in the IPL. So looking at the future he could be the right choice for this role. But again the question arises about the different format captaincy. That's the one thing that goes against KL Rahul. Having said that you never know what the BCCI will decide. We could be in for a surprise. Let's see.

        3. Jasprit Bumrah

This could be the least likely choice for this particular role. But you never say never. Jaspirt Bumrah is already a leader as far as the fast bowling department is concerned. So he is no stranger to this role. He was the Vice Captain of the team in the second test against South Africa. He is the most improved and consistent player for India across all formats. So he could also be considered for this role.

So these are the 3 names that come to mind about the Indian Test captaincy. What names come to your mind, let me know in the comment section.
