In the afternoon game at the Brabourne the Delhi Capitals managed to beat the mighty Mumbai Indians who had the game in their grasp for the most parts but couldn't quite finish the game. The Delhi Capitals lower order really came to rescue after their top order fail to put up a decent score on the board.

Delhi after winning the toss put Mumbai to bat. The Mumbai Indians got up to a very good start with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan taking them over the half century mark. But once Rohit Sharma departed the things turned out a bit different for the Mumbai Indians. Kuldeep Yadav took Rohit Sharma's wicket and he bowled really well, finishing with 2 wickets in his full quota of overs. The Mumbai middle order struggled a bit to get going, they played without Surya Kumar Yadav who is the backbone of their middle order batting. But Ishan Kishan played a wonderful knock scoring an unbeaten half century. He helped Mumbai to reach a respectable total of 177. Probably 15 runs short but a good total.

Chasing 177 Delhi got off to a shaky start with Tim Seifert after hitting some beautiful boundaries got out to a wonderful delivery by Murugan Ashwin. Mandeep Singh soon followed Seifert in the same over without troubling the scorers. Rishabh Pant also went early. Prithvi Shaw and Lalit Yadav put up a small partnership but soon Shaw got out and Rovman Powell got out in the same over. So after 5 wickets down Delhi were looking in deep trouble when Shardul Thakur played a little cameo, he scored 22 runs in 11 balls. Basil Thumpi took 3 wickets and bowled impressively except his last over where he went for plenty.

After the wicket of Shardul Thakur Delhi didn't lose a wicket, Axar Patel played a fantastic knock and took Delhi home with Lalit Yadav at the other end. Both played wonderfully well. Axar remained not out on 38 he only played 17 balls and Lalit Yadav scored 48 off 38 balls. Surprisingly Bumrah was very expensive and so was Daniel Sams, both went for plenty and Delhi won the match pretty easily in the end with 10 balls still remaining. Kuldeep Yadav was declared the Player of the match for his excellent bowling performance.
