Ruturaj Gaikwad had a terrible start to his IPL career, the first impression that he made on the CSK fans and the IPL fans in general wasn't so good. But once he was promoted up the order he looked a different batsman altogether.
He absolutely grabbed the opportunity with both hands and played magnificently well at the closing end of the IPL 2020. He scored back to back half centuries.
This year when IPL started in India, Ruturaj struggled a bit. But in the second leg which started in UAE he is on song from the get go. He is now amongst the leading run scorers in the IPL. He played one of the innings of the IPL the other night against the Rajasthan Royals, he scored a century by hitting a six on the last ball of the innings. He ended up on the losing side but that doesn't his effort away.
Not only the amount of runs but the way Ruturaj scores them. He is a treat to watch. He hardly muscles the ball, he relies most on the timing and his timing is exquisite more often than not. For a moderately build person he hits a long ball. He has every shot in the book.
He played in the series against Sri Lanka which was a weird series for different reasons. Overall Ruturaj has a bright future ahead of him. We've to wait and watch how his future shapes up.
